One of the most important street photography books released this year is the new edition of Bystander by Joel Meyerowitz and Colin Westerbrook (which we’re giving away to the lucky winner of this year’s Cage Match, courtesy of Laurence King Publishing).
One of the best-curated (and most beautiful) galleries in San Francisco is at our local Leica Store.
And, at the risk of immodesty, we’d like to think one of the highlights of the San Francisco street photography calendar is StreetFoto.
What do you get when you put these things together? An absolutely epic exhibition at the Leica Store gallery based on the book Bystander, launching to coincide with StreetFoto and running all through the festival. The reception is Thursday, June 7 from 6-8PM and is a not-t0-be missed event.
Just look who’s going to be exhibited: Devin Allen, Oskar Barnack, Richard Bram, Carrie Boretz, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Liza Cueva, Maciej Dakowicz, Natan Dvir, Cheryl Dunn, Melanie Einzig, Elliott Erwitt, Misha Erwitt, Donna Ferrato, Jason Francisco, Lee Friedlander, Ingeborg Gerdes, Dave Glass, Ralph Gibson, John Gutmann, Charles Harbutt, Troy Holden, Michael Jang, Travis Jensen, William Klein, Saul Leiter, Austin Leong, Fred Lyon, Graciela Magnoni, Vivian Maier, Jeff Mermelstein, Joel Meyerowitz, Mark Murrmann, Melissa O’Shaughnessy, Vladimir Panasenko, Mimi Plumb, Gus Powell, Ted Pushinsky, Eli Reed, Louis Stettner, Richard Sandler, Jamel Shabazz, Matt Stuart, Ed Templeton, Andres Vargas, Andre Wagner, Alex Webb, Rebecca Norris Webb, and Garry Winogrand.
